Although these hiking books appear under my husband's name, they were purchase for and are being used by me -- his wife. :-) Anyway, I've been looking for "the perfect shoe" for a LONG time now and think I've FINALLY found it!! I have problematic feet -- very high arches which leave me vulnerable to sprained ankles -- so finding a long-term comfortable shoe of any kind is a challenge. On top of my foot "issues," I'm an avid walker so really need a high-quality, versatile hiker to wear when athletic walking shoes don't fill the bill -- like during the winter here in Michigan!! To cut to the chase -- these boots are WONDERFUL!!! Not only are they comfortable but they accommodate my orthotic arch insert AND provide a lot of support around the ankles without constriction. One of the really cool features of the boot is that it both laces AND zips so once you've found the proper fit for the laces you can put the shoe on and take it off via the zipper instead of lacing and unlacing every time. Is it lazy of me to appreciate such convenience?
