These boots are true to size in the foot area (area where you'd have on a regular shoe). I'm a steady 8.5 and that's what I ordered here, and they fit perfectly. Now, in the calf area: if you have regular-sized calves (be honest), these fit quite snuggly around skinny jeans. Thanks to the stretch panels (three leather "pleats" with elastic in between placed in front of the zipper) and real leather, these do in fact zip up and I expect will loosen more after some wear. Be warned though: if you are at all bulky in the calves, these MAY NOT work except with tights/nylons or thin socks. Getting them to zip up around denim could be asking too much. Also, these are not knee high exactly. I'm about 5'5" and they fall about 2.5" inches below my knee. So, they aren't mid-calf either (which can be very unflattering), but above-calf/below-knee. I really love the color, the detail (the buckle and stitch over the top of the ankle) and the heel. These are those hard-to-find not flat but not high-heeled boots that will be very comfy for lots of walking and all-day wear. Clarks stays true to the brand with the comfort here. Now, time will have to tell if the leather "wears in" a bit to look more authentic. It is real leather, but doesn't EXACTLY look it. With some of my other Clarks, after some wear, the leather took on that more genuine look. I'm suspecting these will too. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase (OK, now who's being honest? I actually hopped and clapped a little for being so nicely surprised these will actually work). I hunted and hunted online and expected it to take several tries to find the right brown boot, but these hit the bulls-eye!

I have owned a great pair of Clarks loafers for about 5 years. I decided to get a pair in a different color as they are the most comfortable shoes I own. I spent a fair amount of time looking at reviews and styles to pick the shoes I wanted. I am disappointed enough that I am going to return the shoes unworn. Why?

Compared to my other Clark loafers, these are cheaply made and a poor fit. They are loose on my feet in spite of being the "correct size". I go for Clarks because they have half-sizes and used to make great shoes. I suppose if I had never owned a pair of Clarks loafers, I might be happy with these shoes. As it is, I am merely saddened to see how much their quality of manufacture has deteriorated. It makes me cautious about any online shoe purchase, as pictures alone do not convey quality of workmanship. What a shame for such a great brand to produce such a shoddy product.
