Clarks Women's Rosepoint Bud Bootie,Black Leather,9 M US Review
I ordered these Clark's wedge booties in all 3 colors. Based on reviews on other websites, I ordered my true size and 1/2 size down. Very glad that I did because these boots run 1/2 size large and I had to size down. NOTE: I am always a 7.5 (or EU 37.5) in all brands from Nine West to Jimmy Choo; therefore, these shoes definitely run large if I have to size down to a 7.Pros:
- Burgundy color is a lovely, rich, red-brown. Merlot meets chocolate. They don't scream red and really are a great, fall neutral.
- Shoe is pretty cute and the heel height lengthens the leg
- Leather is smooth and unblemished. Only a slight sheen - just look polished, but not matte and not shiny.
Cons:
- The zipper is on the outer side of each boot, which I think is supposed to be a fashionable touch, but it's just inconvenient when putting the boots on and taking them off. Would have much preferred an inner side zipper.
- The leather is stiff and the height of the shaft comes above the ankle bone to hit at a slightly awkward point at the bottom of the shin.
- As other reviewer has mentioned, the opening at the ankle (it's actually above the ankle and I'm 5'6") is a bit wide. I think this is because the leather is stiff and you need a wider opening so that when you flex your ankle, the boot can move without overly digging into you. A buttery soft leather would move with you and this would not be an issue. I found these boots do dig into the front of my lower shin when going up or down stairs. I have to wear taller socks with them.
- I bought these because they are Clarks and I expect comfort in the soles. These have none that I can feel. They aren't totally hard as a rock, but I expected some cushioning for the balls of my feet. Very disappointed by the lack of cushion.
- I have slightly flat feet and I felt these had a lack of arch support. If you have higher arches, you will feel the shape of these is really off inside the boot.
Overall, these are a disappointment from Clarks. I've had Nine West boots that were way more comfortable for the same price. I do like the overall look and the burgundy color, but the lack of cushioning, stiff leather, and wider ankle opening are all major flaws. Don't waste your money. I returned the brown and black pairs.
