I have multiple physical issues: (large feet: size 11 M; major reconstructive surgery on both feet and 3 spine surgeries- so proper shoes are crucial for me). First, the shoes are much "cuter" and more fashionable than they appear in the picture- they do a great job of bridging the style gap between sensibility and comfort and the adorable, higher heeled pumps that I wish I could wear. I can definitely wear these with a skirt and not feel matronly- with trousers they are perfect and for a larger foot- the heel is high enough to direct attention up the leg rather than across the length of my extra long foot- without being to high to cause discomfort or unhealthy distribution of weight and posture . Becuase of my physical problems, the heel height was approaching questionable for me but I wasn't ready to resign myself (just yet, I'm only 53) to a less stylish (lower heel or wedge) and I find that these do not pitch me so far forward as to cause problems with my post-surgical feet, or the ball of my foot- which absolutely takes a beating in the higher heels I wore when younger (and sillier). I find these Clarks true to size- though my full-shoe orthotics may not fit- I'll know after I break them in a bit (my feet have spread as a result of wearing house slippers since my most recent spinal surgery 6 months ago) in every other size 11 M I own I can wear my orthotics without a problem- so I'm inclined to think that it's not the sizing of the shoe that is the potential issue here when it comes to accommodating my orthotics. These shoes also lend themselves to adding additional ornaments that can be clipped onto the toe area (a vintage pair of zazzy earrings perhaps?). They are the cushy, well constucted shoes one would expect from Clarks and if I find that I can't wear these on my 12 hour work shifts running around the hospital I'll still keep them for a variety of other functions.
