If it weren't for Dansko and Clark, I wouldn't have any shoes to wear with skirts and dress pants. These have a very attractive build and give the impression of more heel height without any of the discomfort. I have feet wide at the metatarsal ridge with arthritis in the large toe and a bunion on the right. Finding shoes that don't make me miserable is a challenge. Earth shoes are great for casual, but won't work for a more professional or dressy look. Today's waterproof athletic shoes are made mostly using a breathable waterproof fabric. An example of this fabric has to be material called Gore-Tex?. But what exactly are these claims fabric and how does it function? Well it is precisely what I will be covering in this article.
A waterproof breathable fabric is really a membrane made up of millions of microscopic pores all packed tightly together. These pores were created, size wise, such way that they are small enough to stop water from entering the membrane but large enough to allow water vapor molecules to escape out. So basically your system heat and perspiration are allowed to vent out as the level of intensity increases, while preventing outside elements including rain and snow from entering your shoe.
There are is yet another material used that helps the membrane function correctly. An oil resistance material is built-into the fabric to aid protect the membrane. Over time oils external to elements and also oils made by your body increase and can result in the membrane to work incorrectly. The oil resistance material aids in helping in order to avoid the the membrane from deteriorating overtime.
